MVP Camp staff play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where youth feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. Position Summary The MVP Camp Mentor is responsible for leading a group of approximately 15-25 youth, ages 10-14 (grouped by age), through daily sports-based activities and camp experiences. Camp Mentors support the YMCA's mission by fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment while serving as a strong role model who demonstrates the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Essential Responsibilities Lead and supervise a group of youth during daily sports activities, games, and camp programming. Promote youth development by encouraging teamwork, confidence, effort, and positive behavior. Take daily attendance and lunch counts accurately. Assist with sport instruction and facilitate age-appropriate skill development. Implement daily and weekly lesson plans as provided. Set up, maintain, and properly store equipment needed for scheduled activities. Assist with morning, lunch, and transition supervision to ensure participant safety at all times. Safely transport youth to and from approved field trip locations when required. Maintain constant supervision and awareness of campers and surroundings. Follow all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Serve as a positive role model and uphold professional conduct at all times. Required Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated leadership skills and a genuine interest in working with youth. Ability to model positive behavior aligned with YMCA values. Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills. Ability to motivate and engage youth of varying abilities and backgrounds.
