Job Description

Under the direction of the Endoscopy Supervisor, the NAC works as a member of the GI team and is accountable for the delivery of safe, appropriate quality patient care. The NAC's assigned activities include but are not limited to assisting in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, proper cleaning, and disinfection of medical equipment, preparing and turning over endoscopy rooms, inventory control and stocking supplies, proper handling of specimens and accurate clerical duties regarding charting and maintaining logs. The NAC is responsible for their own personal growth, demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills and participates in creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, acceptance, recognition, and trust.
Minimum qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Washington.
  • Recent experience with direct patient care is preferred.
  • Familiar with medical terminology and use of EMR.
  • Prefer familiarity with medical equipment, sterile processing and supplies.
Current BLS Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Sufficient strength to push stretchers, assist patients while walking, lift 40 pounds, bend, stoop and stand for long periods of time.

  • Understand bloodborne pathogens and consistently follow PPE protocol.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Amount of time spent lifting or exerting force is about 50% for up to 10 pounds and less than one-third of the time up to 25 - 40 pounds. Rarely is there a need to lift more than 41 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an interior surgery center or clinic setting. Workflow may be demanding and chaotic at times requiring the need for multitasking. Exposed to patient population that can present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.
