Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Spa Operations Manager, provides professional, high quality hand leg and nail care services for clients. In addition to performing nail treatments and based on education and certifications, Nail Technicians may be trained on other spa body treatments including but not limited to hydrotherapy, body wraps, exfoliation or salon services and treatments, etc. General knowledge of spa operations, equipment, products and procedures is essential. High school diploma or GED required. One year prior experience as a service provider of nail shaping and enhancement treatments in a spa or related guest service industry required. Valid CT Cosmetology license a plus. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to deal well with people. Must be able to prioritize and be multi-tasked. Computer and keyboard experience necessary so as to utilize reservation software. Must be able to work flexible hours including but not limited to shifts scheduled days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as business demands.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must adhere to Mashantucket Pequot Tribe's and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to perform all nail applications, including acrylic overlay, French polish, nail art, nail shaping, cuticle trimming, callus exfoliation, product application and toe waxing. Provide a nurturing and comfortable environment for spa guests and staff, both in and out of treatments. Must possess well developed customer service techniques and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate guests including but not limited to effectively communicating the nature and scope of the service at its beginning. Educate guests and staff regarding treatment procedures, benefits, contraindications and proper after and home care regimes. To have cooperative & working knowledge of retail inventory for the purpose of selling products to encourage after care and bringing the Spa experience home as well as supporting the Retail effort. To maintain open communication with Spa Supervisors and Management. Must adhere to established procedures and protocols regarding treatments, scheduling, guest interactions, professional conduct, injury & accident reporting, attendance and grooming standards. Maintain client and company confidentiality Attend all required departmental and property meetings, training and events as determined by management, including CPR & Blood Borne Pathogens. Complies without compromise with all Risk Management mandated and department established safety and sanitation requirements. Inspects work areas daily to ensure a pristine and safe environment. Identifies and reports problems to supervision. Uses products and equipment responsibly and helps prevent misuse of inventory and equipment in treatment rooms and all areas. Promotes the services and retail offerings of the establishment and the MPGE property as a whole. Performs all duties and tasks according to the vision, mission and values of the company. Performs all other tasks as assigned by the Spa Director and Management.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. One year prior experience as a service provider of nail shaping and enhancement treatments in a spa or related guest service industry required. Valid CT Cosmetology license a plus.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to deal well with people. Must be able to prioritize and be multi-tasked. Computer and keyboard experience necessary so as to utilize reservation software. Must posses the ability to understand and follow documents such as safety rules, protocols, TCI's and policy & procedure manuals, standards and procedures, disciplinary notices, and performance reviews. The Norwich Spa at Foxwoods Spa and Salon Nail Technician is scheduled by bid shift and adjusted based on flow of business and client demand. The schedule is designed to be flexible to reflect times of guest treatment time preference. Schedules are periodically reviewed by management and as such may be set or changed by management in order to accommodate business regardless of seniority or prior scheduling practices. Must be able to work flexible hours including but not limited to shifts scheduled days, evenings, weekends and holidays, as business demands.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
Valid CT Cosmetology license a plus.
Language Skills:
Must be able to read and write in fluent English. Second language skills a plus. Must possess exemplary oral and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to add, subtract, divide, multiply and be proficient in the use of the Spa Reservations MegaSpa or related software systems. Must be able to understand and calculate using the metric, Fahrenheit and Celsius systems.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands will vary depending on area of study and, as described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to push, pull, tug, and carry 50 lbs. Ability to perform a minimum of five hours of consecutive treatments. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (95%). Must be able to hear, speak and move without impediment and use hearing, speaking and movement in the exercise of duties and responsibilities.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The environment is fast paced. A high volume of guest, employee, management, and guest interactions are standard. Must be able to work in an environment where guests may be scantily clad or disrobing for services. Must be able to travel in elevators or stairs, and work in small or confined areas, and able to endure fluctuations in temperature, humidity and noise. Must be able to work with and use all products and equipment necessary to perform services and execute duties.
