Job Description

This position is supported by federal grant funding and is approved for one fiscal year at a time. Continued employment is contingent upon annual grant renewal, availability of federal funds, programmatic needs, and employee performance. No expectation of continued employment beyond the current grant period is implied or guaranteed. If grant funding is reduced, expires, or is not renewed, the position may be discontinued.

Permanent, 10 Month Position

Nature of Work

The STEAM Lab Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing STEAM activities for classes of students in Grades K-8. The STEAM Lab Facilitator will collaborate with school administration and lead Science/Math MCL to plan learning activities that will foster artistic and 21st century skills.

Qualifications/Licensure

High School Diploma and a minimum of 48 semester hours or an Associate's Degree

Classroom experience, or experience working with children

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Duties and Responsibilities

Monitors the safety and well-being of students.

Monitors student attitudes and encourages their self-esteem and confidence in STEAM topics.

Assists students as they explore STEAM lessons and their connections to 21st century skills.

Collaborates with administration and lead Math/Science MCL to plan appropriate STEAM lessons/activities.

Assists in implementing an inquiry-based, multimedia learning environment with real world applications and hands-on experiences designed to enhance the skill sets of K-8 students.

Attends workshops and training as necessary.

Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements (if applicable)

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.

Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.

Work has standard vision requirements.

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.

Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.

Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.

Special Requirements (if applicable)

Proficient with technology equipment and various software applications.

Ability to model the integration of technology in all curriculum areas.

Understanding of STEAM curriculum and instructional strategies.

Demonstrated and effective oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills.

Ability to manage projects independently.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with school and district personnel.
