Duties Help The purpose of this position is to plan and administer the activities, service and staff of the Automotive Skills Center, assist prons in automotive repairs and service needs, and maintain the Force Support vehicle fleet (schedule maintenance and repairs). Responsible for the efficient and effective operion of the Automotive Skills Center, its resale function, and car wash facility. Ensures compliance with established fire, safety, and security requirements. Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and equipment and performs safefy inspections on tools and equipment on a regular basis. Responsible for continual oversight of the HAZMAT, HAZCOM and ECAMP programs for the squadron and training squadron personnel. Develops and maintains hazardous waste program to include hazardous waste accumulion point, reled training and records maintenance as required by federal and ste laws and training squadron personnel. Maintains a current library of maintenance manuals and calogs, and ensures necessary tools and equipment are available to accommode prons. Conducts, or arranges for, automotive instructional classes for prons. Prepares promotional merials. Collects, deposits, and verifies all funds received from operion of activity. Monitors records and ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed. Develops and verifies all quarterly and annual budgets for appropried and nonappropried funds including justificion stements and approves all expenditures. Exercises cost control measures to ensure costs are in line with approved budgets. Assists prons with automotive problems or questions. Selects and purchases resale and special-order items, prices items so th profit margins are maintained according to established goals. Qualifying Experience:
Must have responsible administrive, professional, technical or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and progressively responsible experience in one or more functions managed by an automotive supervisor. Must have specialized experience in the automotive skills center or an automotive service center with supervision over the various phases of automotive mechanics to include diagnostics and repair which provided an in-depth knowledge of automotive, service procedures, rules and regulions. Knowledge of automotive mechanics which includes the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/correct problems. Must be able to use a wide variety of automotive tools, read and interpret parts manuals, schemics and manufacturer's repair manuals. Must be able to maintain or receive certificion for HAZMAT, MASCOM and ECAMP within 60 day of appointment. Certificion by the Nional Institute of Automotive Service for Excellence or a2-year community/technical college certificion in the automotive field is highly desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid ste driver's license. This is a drug testing designed position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug used. Must be able to communice effectively both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to sisfactorily complete a Nional Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). May be required to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
