Our Technology Services Department supports instructional technology, business systems, network infrastructure, security, and data management across the District. CVUSD is committed to providing equitable and secure access to technology and excellence in digital learning. Responsibilities A. Network Infrastructure & Security Lead the planning, deployment, and maintenance of district-wide LAN/WAN, routing, switching, wireless (Wi‑Fi), firewalls, and data center infrastructure. Ensure network performance, scalability, and reliability.
Supervise security operations:
intrusion detection/prevention, access control, encryption, VPN, and network segmentation. Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity plans. Monitor network usage and capacity; forecast growth and plan for upgrades. Oversee installation and upkeep of physical infrastructure (cabling, racks, site connectivity). B. Technology Strategic Planning & Budgeting Partner with the Director of Technology Services to develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap. Lead the preparation and management of technology and network budgets, including capital expenditures, refresh cycles, and licensing. Conduct cost/benefit analyses, vendor comparisons, and procurement planning. Define and enforce district standards for hardware, software, network, and security systems. C. Systems & Service Management Oversee core district systems such as the administrative applications and business platforms. Manages core databases for student information (SIS), financial systems, HR systems, and other district applications. Maintains data integrity, backups, disaster recovery, and security compliance . Performs database optimization, upgrades, and migrations , often critical to continuity of operations. Provide high-level support and escalation for system outages and critical incidents. Coordinate cross‑departmental integration of instructional, administrative, and business systems. Support instructional technology initiatives by partnering with Instructional Technology teams for classroom tools and digital platforms. D. Staff Leadership & Development Supervise technical teams—including network engineers, systems administrators, and support staff. Perform evaluations, coaching, mentoring, and professional development. Organize and oversee the work flow of help‑desk, projects, work orders, and site-level technology coordination. Promote cross-training to ensure redundancy and knowledge sharing in the team. E. Policy, Governance & Compliance Develop and implement district policies related to acceptable use, digital citizenship, data privacy, and security. Ensure compliance with California and federal education data regulations, including student data systems and privacy laws. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and remediation plans to maintain the integrity of the district's IT infrastructure. F. Technical Support & Help Desk Coordination Act as an escalation point for complex technical, server, or network issues. Work with the help‑desk team to ensure resolution of site-level technical issues. Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and training resources for technical staff and end users. G. Reporting & Communication Provide regular reports to the Director of Technology Services on system health, security posture, capacity, and project status. Participate in district technology steering committees, advisory groups, and cross-functional teams. Translate technical issues into clear, actionable information for non-technical stakeholders (administrators, site leads, teachers). Requirements A. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience). At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in network infrastructure, systems administration, or IT operations, ideally in a multi-site environment. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in an IT or technical organization. Experience in a K-12 educational environment preferred but not required. B. Technical Skills Advanced knowledge of networking technologies (routing, switching, wireless, firewalls). Experience with server virtualization, storage solutions, backup and disaster recovery strategies. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, encryption, and risk management. Familiarity with directory services (e.g., Active Directory), authentication protocols, and cloud services. C. Leadership & Strategic Skills Proven project management experience: planning, budgeting, vendor management, and execution. Ability to develop and implement strategic technology plans aligned with district goals. Track record of leading and developing technical staff. D.
Interpersonal / Communication
Skills Excellent written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Ability to mentor, coach, and develop a diverse technical team. Other Requirements Valid California driver's license and willingness to travel between district sites as needed. Successful completion of background check/fingerprinting per CVUSD requirements. Commitment to ongoing professional development in technology and education.
Pay:
$10,499.00 - $13,332.00 per month
