Position Summary The NextGen Director provides high-level vision, leadership, alignment, and oversight for Kids Ministry and Student Ministry at Generation Church. This role is not primarily responsible for directly running every ministry environment. Instead, the NextGen Director leads, coaches, develops, and holds accountable the leaders of each area , ensuring that every NextGen ministry is healthy, growing, spiritually strong, and aligned with the mission and culture of Generation Church. The ideal candidate is a strong leader of leaders who can build teams, develop ministry directors and coordinators, strengthen systems, create alignment, and help each ministry move into its next season of growth. Key Responsibilities Vision, Alignment & Leadership Provide overall vision, direction, and leadership for Kids Ministry and Student Ministry. Lead and develop the ministry leaders responsible for each NextGen area. Ensure each ministry has clear goals, healthy systems, strong volunteer teams, and measurable growth. Create alignment across NextGen ministries so children and students experience a consistent discipleship pathway. Help each ministry leader understand and carry the mission, values, and culture of Generation Church. Leader Development Coach, encourage, train, and hold accountable the leaders of Kids Ministry and Student Ministry. Build a leadership pipeline that identifies and develops future team leads, coordinators, small group leaders, and ministry directors. Meet regularly with ministry leaders to evaluate ministry health, solve problems, strengthen teams, and plan for growth. Provide clear expectations, feedback, and support to help leaders grow in confidence, competence, and spiritual maturity. Kids Ministry Oversight Lead and support the Kids Ministry leader in creating safe, excellent, engaging, and age-appropriate weekend environments. Ensure strong systems are in place for check-in, classrooms, curriculum, volunteer scheduling, safety, parent communication, and special events. Provide oversight for kids camps, holiday programs, family ministry moments, and growth strategies. Student Ministry Oversight Lead and support the Student Ministry leader in developing a strong ministry for middle school and high school students. Ensure student services, small groups, camps, events, leadership development, and outreach opportunities are healthy and effective. Help create a culture where students are welcomed, discipled, challenged, and connected to the life of the church. Systems, Strategy & Ministry Health Oversee ministry calendars, event planning, volunteer structures, leadership meetings, budgets, and communication rhythms. Track key ministry health indicators, including attendance, volunteer engagement, leader development, discipleship participation, and retention. Ensure all NextGen ministries maintain high standards for safety, excellence, spiritual care, and operational organization. Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to identify ministry needs, remove obstacles, and plan for future growth. Family & Church Partnership Ensure Kids Ministry and Student Ministry partner well with parents and families. Strengthen communication between ministry leaders, families, volunteers, and church leadership. Help create a unified approach to discipleship from children to students. Qualifications A strong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A passion for the next generation and the discipleship of children and students. Proven ability to lead leaders, build teams, and develop healthy ministry culture. Experience overseeing multiple ministry areas, departments, or teams. Strong communication, organization, coaching, and problem-solving skills. Ability to create clarity, alignment, accountability, and momentum across multiple ministries. High level of integrity, emotional maturity, humility, and spiritual responsibility. Agreement with the mission, values, and leadership culture of Generation Church. Bachelor's degree preferred. Prior full-time ministry leadership experience strongly preferred. Ideal Candidate The ideal NextGen Director is a high-capacity leader who knows how to lead through other leaders. This person is not simply a doer, but a developer — someone who can equip ministry leaders, strengthen systems, build healthy teams, and create alignment across every NextGen environment. They are spiritually mature, relationally strong, organized, strategic, teachable, and passionate about helping children and students become lifelong followers of Jesus.
