Job Description

SUMMARY:
The Coweta Charter Academy School Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our school. Their duties include cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and other areas, as well as ensuring that equipment and facilities are well-maintained, paper and cleaning supplies are stocked, and removing trash and debris on a regular basis. s.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities and/or duties required; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, removing cobwebs, cleaning glass windows/doors, removing marks/dirt from walls & furniture, and keeping surfaces clean.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing lunchroom surfaces, chairs, and benches, as well as ensuring the availability of supplies.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing breakroom surfaces, chairs, and appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, coffee dispensers, etc.) as well as ensuring the availability of supplies.
  • Disinfecting light switches, door handles, stairway and grab rails, and other high-touch areas daily or as often as prescribed.
  • Emptying and cleaning trash and recycling bins.
  • Performing minor repairs and maintenance, such as changing light bulbs and replacing paper towel dispensers.
  • Reporting major maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensuring that all doors and windows are locked and secured at the end of each school day.
  • Maintaining an organized and clean environment.
  • Attends and actively contributes to all required meetings, as required.
  • Participates in trainings and certifications, as required.
  • Complies with and supports state regulations and policies.
  • Follows all rules, procedures, policies, and guidelines of CCA.
  • Reports all student discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by School Leadership or the Facility Manager in accordance with school/state policies and practices.

  • Ability to display a professional attitude in working with students, school personnel and parents.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Follows chain of command.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent AND
  • Candidate must be at least 21 years of age AND
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working as a school custodian, or a similar role AND
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50lbs, climbing stairs, moving heavy equipment, and standing for extended periods of time AND
  • Able to lift and move items of 30-50lbs consistently AND
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as needed AND
  • Have reliable personal transportation AND
  • Possess a valid driver's license
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
  • Janitorial Certifications, as required may be required to handle equipment or cleaning supplies
  • Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required
  • Clearance Certificate
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in an environment with the proposed age group
  • Experience working in a brick-and-mortar educational environment
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time, as required.
Bi-lingual Supervisory Responsibilities:
