What they do
A Military Specialist operates and maintains vehicles and mechanical equipment pertinent to mission success, whether on the sea, land or in the air. May monitor communication, detection, or weapons systems during operations. Interprets and evaluates tactical situations, making recommendations to supervisors. May operate weapons targeting, firing, and launch systems whether during combat or peacetime. In addition to their combat training, they have also specialized training in swimming, diving, parachuting, survival, emergency medicine, and foreign languages. Duties include conducting advanced reconnaissance operations and collecting intelligence information; recruiting, training, and equipping friendly forces; conducting raids and invasions on enemy territories; laying and detonating explosives for demolition targets; locating, identifying, defusing, and disposing of ordnance; and operating and maintaining sophisticated communications equipment.

Certifications:
AS or AA in Computer Science, Information Systems or a "Relevant Technical Discipline"ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION
Military service in an IT-related rating/MOS, may be substituted for an AS or AA degree. Four (4) years of experience in support of Defense IT systems may be substituted for a AA/AS or Military service in an IT-related rating/MOS.Experience:
At least three (3) years' of experience withDOD C4ISR
systems which includes 24/7/365 help desk support, conducting training, on-site technical support, and underway/deployed CVN's, LSD's, LHA's, DDG's, CVW's, MAG's, MEF's, orUSN/USMC
