Duties Help This position is loced in the Joint Forces Headquarters-Ste, Logistics Directore (G-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coing merials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stionary and mobile equipment and on comb, tactical, and commercial vehicles. Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Fills in holes and dents using body fillers and hardeners. Sands and evens out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, hand tools, wire brushes, and paint remover. Applies coings to specified areas ensuring the surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips. Applies rustproof compound to areas such as splash panels, quarter panels, seams structural members, and underbody construction. Applies coings using brushes, rollers, and spray paint equipment. Prepares coing merials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives) needed for the different coings to work properly and achieve the necessary surface appearance. Uses measuring equipment (i.e., Zhan cup) to achieve the proper viscosity and thickness for applying the coings. Applies prime, intermedie and final cos of semi-gloss, gloss and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac. Ensures th mch, texture and appearance meet finish requirements. Replaces and applies markings/lettering as specified by approprie manuals. Applies coings using acceptable methods of the trade to include special finishing techniques to achieve desired results. Reads and interprets blueprints when applying camouflage pterns. Replaces markings and letterings as specified by the approprie manuals. Reads and interprets directions th rele to mixture, use, and applicion of various kinds of coing merials, solvents, and precoing agents. Monitors and adjusts air pressures in paint booth, controls he settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coings. Completes records for paint usage and paint waste as per environmental regulions. Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coing (CARC) merials in accordance with specificions and dimensions. Manages workflow into the paint shop as assigned by the supervisor. Determines wh jobs can be done in a series or if items need to be completed alone. GENERAL EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training which demonstres the candide's knowledge of surface preparion (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coing methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coing merials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associed with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: WG-08

• Experience or training which demonstres the candide's knowledge of standard surface preparion and coing methods and techniques.

Experience must demonstre the skill to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, putty, prep surfaces and select approprie tools to complete assigned tasks. Experience must also demonstre the skill to brush on, roll on, and spray coing merials, and apply other reled methods and techniques, such as cutting-in techniques and dip and overflow methods. Experience which required the applicant to interpret and follow technical orders, specificions, and publicions. WG-09

Skill in building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and pching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and tre surfaces with pre-coing agents. Relocion Incentive :

An authorized management official approves a relocion incentives paid in accordance with this volume to a current federal employee who must reloce, without a break in service, to accept a position in a different geographic area. Employee must have a current and "Fully Successful" performance appraisal immediely prior to the move.
