Job Description

JCC Camp Chi is one of the Midwest's premier resident camps. Each summer, Chi serves boys and girls in 3rd-11th grade through two, four and eight-week camp sessions. Set on 600 acres near the Wisconsin Dells, Chi offers the best facilities and over 30 specialty activities that aim to build campers' skills and boost self-esteem. The Health Center at Camp Chi is staffed by six to eight nurses, one doctor, and two to three Nurse Interns or Aides . The Health Center at Camp Chi is a fun and busy place to work. Built in 2021, the health center is a new, modern, and fully equipped facility. Our Nurse's Aides assist our RNs and Camp Doctors by helping provide care and attention to campers and staff, basic first aid and documentation, support med pass and other functions of the Camp Chi Health Center.
Essential Job Duties/Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring basic First Aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to assist in supervision of campers. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask. Be respectful and fair to all campers and other staff members. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. Endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances. Ability to verbally communicate and work with youth with social skills and some academic difficulties (all age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to visually and auditorily observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. Promote teamwork and collaboration through open communication and cooperation with all staff, in a professional manner at an appropriate time. Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours Daily Tasks Run errands when assigned - prescription pick up, driving to urgent care or other appointments. Order and retrieve meals from the dining hall for campers and staff in the health center, taking into consideration dietary needs and preferences. Assist with the documentation of campers and staff treated at the Health Center by documenting treatment in the Camp Health log book. Make beds and change linens for overnight camper or staff patients. Monitor linen supplies. Document refrigeration temps. Assist with med pass at assigned times. Work with RNs to provide basic first aid and provide documentation of services. Be on-call on assigned overnight shifts.
Compensation:
Competitive salary of $750/week and great perks, including housing, meals and access to camp facilities.
Requirements:
Preference to those that possess a current CNA. Prefer nursing student entering Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year of college or recent graduate. Must also be CPR certified. Previous experience working with children highly preferred. The ideal candidates will have the ability to work well with children and staff and have excellent communication skills
