Description Benefits Description Under the direction of SIU OIED and OWIR leadership, this role conducts statewide oversight of Illinois CNA training programs through on-site theory and clinical inspections, reporting findings, supporting corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) standards. The position also coordinates and delivers CNA and instructor training workshops, competency exam preparation, and train-the-trainer programs, maintains certification exam content, and provides continuing education opportunities across Illinois. Examples of Duties Under direction of the SIU Executive Director of Office of Innovation and Economic Development (OIED) and Director of Workforce Innovation and Research (OWIR), and in conjunction with the additional nurse education coordinators, duties include, but are not limited to: Between all coordinators, conduct a minimum of one hundred and fifty (150) Illinois CNA training program theory and/or clinical site monitoring inspections each calendar year. Target site visit area for incumbent is northern half of Illinois. Provide a complete report of each site monitoring inspection to DPH within three days of the inspection. Revise site monitoring inspection guidelines/procedures, checklists, and forms as needed and submit to DPH within thirty days prior to any inspection. Conduct on-site theory and/or clinical checks, and work with DPH training program conformance and improvement. Identify any potential and actual issues with programs based on cluster report analysis, program theory, clinical site visits, and DPH specifications. DPH must be notified within three days. Follow up on corrective action plans as requested by DPH. Coordinate Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Illinois Nurse Aid Competency Exam (INACE) workshops in the State of Illinois. Conduct up to fourteen training workshops per year. Review and update all training materials in preparation of the training workshops. Update standardized presentation materials based on DPH workshop requirements and training needs. Coordinate with, co-host, and provide standardized instruction for the train-the trainer course or workshop. Provide for or arrange continuing education units (CEUs) credits and documentation accepted by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations for continuing education required for licensure as a registered professional nurse to each individual who successfully completes the workshop when CEUs are not provide by the hosting site. Present at these training workshops at no cost to the host site. Co-host CNA and CNA-lnstructors workshops and conferences, contingent on available funding, at various sites across Illinois with CEUs provided for those who successfully complete the workshop when CEUs are not provided by the hosting site. Provide training and testing for instructors in accordance with the Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant and Aides Training Programs Code. Provide up to eight standardized train-the-trainer workshops each year, as requested by DPH. Maintain, review, and update as needed the bank of questions for any Nurse Aide Training Program certification exams delivered by the department. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Nursing or Education by date of hire. Must have a registered professional nurse license (or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment) by the State of Illinois' Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. Licensure must be provided annually to OIED. Must have two years of recent experience in long-term care. Familiarity with restorative or rehabilitative nursing.
