Job Description
General Description:
The Regional Nurse Supervisor works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director to assist with oversight and supervision of the nursing staff within a region. Responsibilities include training Nursing Department new hires and assisting with the medication training for Mentor 2 and ensuring all nursing staff are performing efficiently at all times. The Regional Nursing Supervisor helps manage a residential program, by overseeing the day-to-day medical needs of the facility and upholding the cultural values of Ascend. He/she enforces program regulations and guidelines regarding medications, including HIPAA policies and Joint Commission accreditation. The Nurse assists with the audits of client charts and nursing staff documentation on a regular basis to ensure all medical documentation is being completed throughout the course of treatment, in a timely manner.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily checklists to ensure policy and administration guidelines are met, and ensure the facility is compliant with licensing standards. Assists with accreditation and state licensing activities.
- Monitor client records pertaining to client medication count, daily vitals, height and weight
- Manage urine specimen collection lists & Processing for all clients according to company policies and procedures. Updating UA channel on a regular basis
- Ensure appropriate training and supervision of nursing staff.
- Availability to be on-call, commuting as requested, and respond timely/appropriately to slack messages
- Establish rapport with other departments
- Oversee medication destruction of all discontinued medication according to company policy and procedures
- Responsible for preventing client abuse by adhering to all policies and procedures, attending periodic training, reporting suspicious and inappropriate behavior, and following mandatory abuse reporting requirements.
- Provide direct care and nursing services to clients according to program policies and procedures when needed − Ensuring chronic health conditions are monitored and medical concerns (e.g. unusual vital signs, weight, illness) are quickly addressed and reported to the Medical Director, DON, NP/MD.
- Comply with all reporting requirements, biohazard program requirements, medical protocols, etc.
- Is responsible for ensuring the Weekly, monthly and Bi monthly Supply/Equipment checks (first aid, TB, OTC, etc) and nursing compliance activities are completed within the scheduled time frames at each site.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures.
- Oversees the client intake process, completing related paperwork, reviewing and ensuring nursing assessments are accurate and completed within the time period assigned; ensuring all necessary information is sent to the pharmacy; assigning additional duties to mentor staff as necessary.
- Ensures staff adherence to Infection Control Protocols and monitors reporting
- Participates in on-going departmental training and meetings when required
- Demonstrates tact, initiative, resourcefulness, enthusiasm, non judgemental attitude, and acts in a professional manner.
- Availability to perform requested tasks and accept additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and Managing Director.
Education Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a federal background check and Livescan
- Valid Driver's License
- Current LVN or RN license in California and at least 2 years prior nursing experience
- Must have 1 year experience as a staff LVN/RN with Ascend Healthcare
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills required.
- Must present a professional and compassionate demeanor in all interactions.
- Experience in residential nursing
- EMR savvy - KIPU is a plus
- Able to work in a fast-paced setting, under pressure, and maintain open, and proper communication
