Job Description
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the direction of the NYS Veterans' Home Director of Nursing, the Program Aide responsibilities include: Preparation and arrangement of adequate staffing, contractual agreements, and time and attendance guidelines, rules, and regulations; Monitoring staffing levels required to provide appropriate care and ensure the safety of the residents; bidding coordination for regular schedules and vacations; monitoring of nursing staff overtime usage, time and attendance, FMLA, Worker's Compensation and Mandatory Alternate Duty; monitoring of all leave requests to ensure appropriate staffing levels and accuracy of timesheets. The Program aid will also be responsible for recruitment and facilitation of agency nursing staff. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts. Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
Minimum Qualifications Transfers:
Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 11 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Program Aid, Grade 13.Promotional Provisional Qualifications:
In the absence of an eligible list with three or more candidates willing to accept a position, a temporary provisional appointment may be considered. For provisional appointment, candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications: Be a current NYS Department of Health employee with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
