NYS Certified High School Guidance Counselor

Guidance Counselor Job Description New Dawn Charter High School seeks a dedicated Guidance Counselor to support our over-aged and under-credited students (ages 16-21), including English Language Learners and students with special needs, in obtaining their high school diplomas.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist students in developing career plans through the Bridges program. Maintain a list of graduating seniors and coordinate college/career fairs and trips. Schedule students for classes and help complete FAFSA applications. Support students with college and vocational applications, career identification, and professional resume development. Ensure all students graduate with a career or college plan. Create lesson plans, administer assessments, and collaborate with teachers during planning. Use data to inform instruction and stay late on Regents exam days as needed. Track student attendance, call mentees, and follow up on absences. Attend professional development sessions and use prep time effectively. Report to the direct supervisor and Executive Director, working cooperatively with faculty, staff, and administration.

Support College and Career Readiness Requirements:

Graduate degree in Counseling Services. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Commitment to student success and professional development.

Full-time, Contract Pay:

$55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
