Job Description

Accotink Academy is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist for the 2026-2027 School Year, including 2026 Extended School Year. Candidate will be joining a multi-disciplinary treatment team for special needs students. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with special needs students but willing to train the right individual. We are a private therapeutic day school conveniently located near 495/95.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a Virginia-licensed Occupational Therapist or eligible for licensure with the Virginia Board of Medicine Department of Health Professions. Not accepting applications from COTAs at this time. Must be registered by NBCOT to practice as an Occupational Therapist. Have good organizational skills and accuracy with monthly billing and make-up logs. Possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must work well with students, families/caregivers, co-workers, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate a professional, client-centered attitude toward student and staff. Have at least 1 year experience, preferably in a school setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage daily notes (including data collection), weekly caseload, monthly reports, and quarterly reports in a timely manner. Attend and participate in team and IEP meetings. Perform screens and generate referrals/recommendations for OT services per observation and consultation with teachers. Determine the needs for, nature of, and estimate duration of sessions. Develop treatment plans and goals, including methods to achieve goals. Periodically reassess the effectiveness of treatment plans, progress towards goals, and timing of service termination. Coordinate the treatment plans with staff and other services. Communicate on a regular basis with parents and staff via phone, email, or meetings.
