Oklahoma Planning Coordinator Reports To:
NMHC COO
Purpose:
Lead the expansion of the National Mental Health Corps (NMHC) inOklahoma Background:
NMHC is exploring the development of a statewide mental health workforce initiative in Oklahoma focused on expanding access to evidence-based and informed mental health interventions, prevention education, and community support services. Through a planning process that may include partnerships with colleges, universities, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders, NMHC is assessing strategies to strengthen Oklahoma's behavioral health workforce and expand community-based mental health support.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning & Partnership Development Complete community scans to identify communities with high need and limited mental health resources Conduct a landscape analysis of Oklahoma's behavioral health workforce and community mental health infrastructure Perform outreach to strategic partners to develop awareness of and interest in NMHC Build and maintain relationships with targeted organizations and mission-aligned partners Strengthen relationships with colleges and universities and explore the development of an NMHC workforce pathway or "track" Convene meetings with stakeholders to assess opportunities for statewide collaboration and implementation Work with existing NMHC partners to determine opportunities to replicate and adapt the model in Oklahoma AmeriCorps Program Development Coordinate planning activities related to the development of the Oklahoma AmeriCorps program model Determine projected 2027-2028 member slot allocations based on host site interest and statewide need Develop implementation timelines, onboarding processes, and readiness plans for host sites Coordinate with partner organizations regarding NMHC promotion, member recruitment strategies, and program readiness Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and operational systems for the launch Host Site Development & Recruitment Lead host site outreach and relationship cultivation efforts Coordinate host site application and onboarding processes to ensure readiness for member placement beginning in August 2027 Support organizations in understanding AmeriCorps requirements, expectations, and partnership opportunities Track and maintain records of partner engagement, host site interest, and planning activities Fund Development & Stakeholder Engagement Identify and cultivate potential funding partners, including foundations, corporations, higher education institutions, and individual donors Support the development of sustainability strategies for long-term program growth in Oklahoma Represent NMHC at meetings, conferences, webinars, and community events Deliver presentations and informational sessions to prospective partners and stakeholders Grant Writing & Compliance Prepare and submit the Oklahoma State Service Commission AmeriCorps application Coordinate with NMHC leadership to gather required planning, budget, and program documentation Attend required AmeriCorps trainings, webinars, conferences, and technical assistance sessions Support compliance with AmeriCorps planning grant requirements and timelines Other Duties as Assigned Assume the role of Oklahoma Operations Manager upon successful transition to implementation in August 2027 Assist the COO and CEO with additional planning and organizational priorities as neededQUALIFICATIONS
First and foremost, the Oklahoma Planning Coordinator must share a passion for NMHC's mission to empower aspiring mental health professionals by creating career pathways that strengthen community mental health. Additionally, we're looking for candidates who possess a combination of the following: Must be located in Oklahoma A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience Previous experience with AmeriCorps, staff or members Previous experience in leadership, program planning, and needs assessment Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines Ability to work independently, efficiently, and meticulously Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced and evolving environment Strong interpersonal and team-building skills; ability to navigate, work across, and invest multiple stakeholders in partnership development Excellent communication and customer service skills with all audiences engaged Diplomatic nature with excellent problem-solving skills Desire to work in a healthy, positive, and fun team environment Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites Authorization to work in the U.S. Travel is required within Oklahoma Valid Driver's License RequiredCOMPENSATION NMHC
offers a competitive benefits package for full-time employees. Pay is $65,000 annually and is non-negotiable.TO APPLY
