Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as an On Site Trailer Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty trailers, as well as the class 7-8 trucks in this fleet. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work directly on-site, utilizing your mechanical expertise to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and conducting routine maintenance to keep our fleet in top condition. Duties Maintain a fleet consisting mostly of 53' trailers, enclosed and flat bed/drop deck. Fleet also includes several tractors used to jockey the trailers on the lot, and several used to transport trailers locally. Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers, including brake systems, suspensions, air brakes, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components. Conduct fabrication work such as welding, soldering, and assembly to repair or modify trailers and equipment. Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed; perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate safety procedures and tools to handle large components or assemblies. Operate out of a service truck, which you will take home daily, and use to report directly to the job site. Experience Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in commercial trailer repair, hydraulics and heavy truck repair. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and assembly of trailer components. Knowledge of schematics related to hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with diesel engine repair, tire service, shocks & struts replacement, and brake repair. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely while performing complex repairs or assembly work. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients alike. $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
