Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic surgical team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing various surgical procedures within a fast-paced hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in sterile technique, patient assessment, and intraoperative support, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and safety. This position offers an opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in surgical care and patient advocacy. Day 5x8-Hour (07:00 - 15:00) Certification
ACLS, BLS, PALS
Duties Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, functional, and ready for use. Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures by maintaining a sterile field, passing instruments, and managing intraoperative needs. Monitor patient vital signs continuously, assess patient status, and respond promptly to any changes or complications during surgery. Administer medications as prescribed, including anesthesia adjuncts, analgesics, and other necessary drugs following aseptic technique. Document all perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR systems), including patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Provide preoperative education and post-operative care instructions to patients and their families to facilitate recovery. Support infection control protocols by adhering strictly to sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile environment throughout surgeries. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiology staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical workflows. Assist with emergency situations such as trauma or acute complications by implementing advanced airway management, IV infusion protocols, or ventilator support as needed. Participate in ongoing training related to new surgical techniques, technological advancements like Epic or Cerner systems, and compliance with hospital standards. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current licensure in the applicable state or country. Minimum of two years of operating room experience within a hospital setting; trauma center experience preferred. Proficiency in aseptic technique, sterile processing procedures, and surgical instrumentation handling. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to perioperative care. Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Strong skills in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, IV insertion/infusion therapy, suturing techniques, and specimen collection. Familiarity with advanced procedures including cardiac catheterization support, neuro or orthopedic surgeries is advantageous. Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU environments. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and patient education. Knowledge of infection control standards aligned with NCQA standards and hospital policies. Additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are highly desirable.
