Full-time Summary:
Assist in managing under the direction of the General Manager, the day to day activities/functions of hotel operations to ensure guest satisfaction, ensures that all policies and procedures are followed in order to uphold company standards and maximize hotel profitability. Act/perform duties as the General Manager in his/her absence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations and assignments of the hotel staff. Assist the General Manager in the development and communication of strategies and goals. Ensures systems and procedures are in place and followed for guest safety and security. Directly supervises the hotel staff. Ensures that all staff is properly trained and supplied with the equipment and tools needed to effectively perform their job functions/duties.  Assist General Manager in the execution, development, and monitoring of financial and operation plans for the hotel. Manage hotel operations for front and back office, revenue, and reservation functions to ensure superior guest services, the security of monies, credit card transactions, guest information, and that established/set goals are achieved. Manage Maintenance and Housekeeping functions to ensure compliance with quality and brand standards in all areas of the hotel. Establish and implement procedures for routine inspections of all guest rooms/suites and public areas, guest rooms/suites, linens, lobby areas, public restrooms, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment, etc. are clean and/or in good repair/working conditions. Responsible for preventative maintenance programs, ensure programs are in place to protect the physical assets. Advise and/or initiate salary/wages, disciplinary, or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with Company rules and policies. Enforce positive employee relations; reconcile time keeping and payroll administration in compliance with federal, state and local wage and hour guidelines/regulations. Monitor/report inventory and order supplies in a timely and efficient manner.  Monitor and report variances against budget; and control labor costs and other expenses. Establish and implement appropriate service guidelines in order to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Respond to guest complaints and/or concerns in a timely and professional manner. Comply with federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and alcohol services. Cultivate positive owner relationships if applicable and assist in providing ongoing information and status reports. Make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the company and brand loyalty. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts, departments and management. Conduct weekly meetings with Maintenance, Housekeeping and Front Desk personnel to ensure hotel objectives/goals are met. Network and maintain communication with outside contacts. Interact with guests to guarantee their total satisfaction. Interact with Management Company, Owners and/or Principals regarding operation updates and current issues.  Comply and keep in communication with regulatory agencies regarding safety and compliance matters. Address and resolve any vendor issues/concerns. Network with other contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups, and local media) Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
: Experience in operations or some prior general management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Type and level of experience required may vary slightly based on size and complexity of operation. Must speak fluent English. Other languages preferred. Communications skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company. Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, giving and receiving instructions, and training. Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized on a day to day basis. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organization and training abilities are used often. Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc. May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
OTHER:
Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules and holidays to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with all rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Work indoors and out and often deal with hazardous materials, including bodily waste and cleaning chemicals. Work in high and precarious places. Work in wet, humid or noisy environments. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers, to climb and balance, top, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl frequently. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
