Job Summary The Township is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Motor Grader Operator to join the team. This position is responsible for operating a motor grader and other heavy equipment to construct, maintain, and repair township roads, shoulders, and drainage systems. The ideal candidate has experience with road maintenance, follows safety procedures, and works effectively as part of a team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate a motor grader for road construction, grading, shaping, and maintenance Maintain gravel roads, shoulders, and ditches Assist with snow removal, sanding, and ice control during winter operations Operate additional heavy equipment such as loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, skid steers and rollers as needed Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs Identify roadway hazards and report maintenance needs Follow all township, state, and federal safety regulations Assist with traffic control and signage during road projects Respond to emergency situations and work extended hours when required Maintain accurate records of daily activities Cross-train for cemetery sexton duties Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Minimum 1 year of experience operating a motor grader or similar heavy equipment Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) [Class A or B] or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment Knowledge of road construction and maintenance practices Ability to read and understand grade stakes, plans, and work orders Strong attention to safety and equipment care Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to sit for extended periods and operate heavy equipment controls Work Schedule Typically Monday-Friday, 8-5 Overtime, evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs required, especially during winter weather events Compensation & Benefits Hourly wage: $25-30, based on experience Benefits may include paid time off, and holidays How to Apply Apply through Indeed or submit an application to: benton.twp.tres@gmail.com The Township is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
