Job Description

Company Overview Eye Center of north Florida was formed in 1999 and is the most established and trusted eye care practices in the Florida panhandle. (ECNF) offers Lipiflow Dry Eye Treatment, Low Vision Rehabilitation, Low Vision Rehabilitation,Optos Retinal Imaging, Macular Degeneration, Genetic Testing- Macula Risk Testing , Drop less Cataract Surgery, Refractive procedures along with cosmetic specialties, contact lenses and an optical shop. Position Summary We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services. Responsibilities This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.
Ophthalmic skills include:
Obtaining and documenting patient history Determining visual acuity Performing automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposes Retinoscopy and refinement for prescribing purposes Advanced lensometry Logarithmic pupillary assessment Static & kinetic visual field testing PAM, BAT, and advanced ocular motility assessment Manual keratometry Osmolarity testing Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry) Pre-operative preparation of patient Maintenance and repair of equipment and instruments Perform ocular imaging including OCT, Topography, fundus photography Preparation of surgical instruments and equipment Aseptic technique Operating room assistance for minor and refractive surgeries Preparation and labeling of microscope slide and culture media obtained by physician Performing amblyopia treatment including patching, drops, and prism Intraocular lens power calculations Post-operative education Escalation and triage of urgent patient needs/care Patient education, advanced refracting skills including over-refraction of contact lenses, contact lens fit/adjustment, advanced slit lamp technique A-scan diagnostic measurements Biometry measurements Qualifications 7 + years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred COT Required/COMT Preferred Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required Must be flexible with traveling to various locations Ability to pay attention to detail • Ability to maintain confidentiality The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable The ability to recognize inconsistencies
