Assist patients in selecting eyeglasses and contact lenses that meet their prescription needs and lifestyle preferences Measure and verify patient prescriptions using optical equipment and ensure proper fitting of eyewear Perform laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and adjustments to ensure precise fit and comfort Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, proper care, and maintenance of eyewear products Maintain accurate medical records and document patient interactions following HIPAA regulations for confidentiality Support the optical team with inventory management, ordering supplies, and retail sales activities Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care, including understanding ophthalmology reports and medical terminology Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR systems to update patient information efficiently Conduct basic vision screenings, including vital signs when necessary, especially for senior or pediatric patients Uphold aseptic techniques during laboratory procedures to maintain a sterile environment Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health Experience with optical equipment such as phoropters, lensometers, and lab tools for lens fabrication Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills to drive product sales while providing excellent customer service Laboratory experience in lens edging, mounting, or similar technical tasks is highly desirable Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients Proficiency in medical billing and coding related to optical services when applicable Knowledge of EMR systems like Epic or other clinic management software for seamless documentation Understanding of medical records management and clinic experience is a plus Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Embark on a rewarding career as an Optician where your skills directly impact patients' quality of life.
