Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician, where you'll play a vital role in enhancing patients' vision and overall well-being. In this energetic position, you'll assist patients in selecting eyewear, perform comprehensive eye assessments, and support the clinical team with vital measurements and medical records management. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional eye care services in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmology, retail sales, and medical procedures while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives. Duties Assist patients in choosing suitable eyewear by understanding their needs and preferences, leveraging retail sales skills to recommend optimal options. Perform preliminary eye assessments including measuring visual acuity, refraction, and vital signs to support optometrists' diagnoses. Maintain accurate medical records and update electronic health record (EHR) systems such as RevolutionEHR or other EMR platforms, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support laboratory procedures by preparing lenses and frames, conducting laboratory experience tasks, and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed. Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens use, and general eye health practices, including pediatrics and senior care considerations. Assist with medical billing and coding processes related to optical services and ensure accurate documentation of medical terminology and anatomy knowledge. Manage inventory of optical supplies, perform retail math calculations for sales transactions, and support retail management activities within the optical department. Experience Previous experience in an optical setting or ophthalmology clinic preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy related to the eye, and clinic procedures is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR systems such as RevolutionEHR, Trizetto, Eyefinity, Aviality, Prism is advantageous. Experience with medical billing, coding, HIPAA compliance, and medical records management is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care patients. Retail sales experience combined with retail math proficiency will help succeed in this role's customer service aspects.
