Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our newly opened private optometry practice in Beckley! The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optical services, laboratory procedures, and patient care, with a focus on delivering exceptional service and accurate vision solutions. If you haven't worked in the optical space, that is OK! We will provide on the job training for the right person who has the desire to care for patients with compassion while growing professionally along the way! As an Optician for Appalachian Eye Care, you will assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear, perform comprehensive eye measurements, and support clinical staff in maintaining high standards of safety and quality. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient well-being while working in a dynamic, patient-centered environment. Hourly wage is set based on experience. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyewear that meets their prescription needs, style preferences, and lifestyle requirements. Take precise measurements of pupils, ocular anatomy, and vital signs to ensure proper fit and vision correction. Prepare and verify prescriptions using medical terminology and optical expertise; perform laboratory tasks such as lens fitting and adjustments. Support clinical staff by maintaining medical records, managing medical billing, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens handling, and the importance of regular eye exams. Maintain a clean, organized optical retail environment adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Optimize sales strategies while providing excellent customer service in a retail setting. Requirements Proven experience in optical services or ophthalmology clinics with knowledge of optical experience and laboratory procedures is desirable. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health a plus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
