In this vital role, you will assist the optometrists in providing exceptional eye care services, ensuring a smooth patient experience from intake to pretesting to follow-up. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatrics, while supporting the clinical team with vital technical and administrative tasks. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in ophthalmology and medical office procedures within a vibrant, patient-centered setting. Duties Greet patients warmly and perform initial intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in comprehensive eye examinations Prepare patients for exams by conducting preliminary tests using optical equipment and ensuring proper aseptic techniques are maintained Assist the ophthalmologist or optometrist during examinations, including handling diagnostic tools and recording findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems Manage medical records efficiently, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, processing patient check-ins/check-outs, and managing retail sales of eyewear and accessories Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment by adhering to infection control protocols, including proper aseptic technique and sanitation procedures Experience Prior experience in medical office settings or optical clinics is highly preferred Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology enhances your ability to support clinical workflows effectively Familiarity with EMR systems or similar platforms is advantageous Experience with medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is a plus Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics Retail sales experience coupled with retail math skills supports upselling eyewear products while maintaining excellent customer service standards Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in documentation and patient care This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in eye health while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
