Duties Greet patients warmly and perform initial intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in comprehensive eye examinations Prepare patients for exams by conducting preliminary tests using optical equipment and ensuring proper aseptic techniques are maintained Assist the ophthalmologist or optometrist during examinations, including handling diagnostic tools and recording findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems Manage medical records efficiently, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, processing patient check-ins/check-outs, and managing retail sales of eyewear and accessories Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment by adhering to infection control protocols, including proper aseptic technique and sanitation procedures Experience Prior experience in medical office settings or optical clinics is highly preferred Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology enhances your ability to support clinical workflows effectively Familiarity with EMR systems or similar platforms is advantageous Experience with medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is a plus Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics Retail sales experience coupled with retail math skills supports upselling eyewear products while maintaining excellent customer service standards Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in documentation and patient care This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop their expertise in eye health while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
