This energetic position combines patient-focused clinical support with front desk responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations and outstanding service. You will be the friendly face welcoming patients, managing appointments, and assisting with clinical procedures that help improve vision and eye health. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to a positive, efficient, and caring environment for both patients and staff. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify their information, and assist with the intake process using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Epic. Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity measurements, ensuring accuracy for each patient visit. Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests, including refraction assessments and basic ophthalmic measurements. Assist optometrists during eye exams by applying aseptic techniques to handle ophthalmic instruments and maintaining a sterile environment. Manage patient records meticulously in compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of medical information. Support optical services by helping patients select eyewear, understanding retail math for sales transactions, and processing insurance claims related to medical coding and billing. Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone inquiries, managing medical records, and coordinating follow-up care. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment while adhering to safety protocols related to ophthalmology procedures. Educate patients on eye health topics relevant to pediatrics or general ophthalmology, fostering understanding of anatomy and physiology related to vision care. Experience Previous experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within ophthalmology or optometry practices. Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms is essential for managing patient data efficiently. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy related to the eye, physiology principles, and medical coding/billing processes enhances your ability to support clinical workflows effectively. Experience in retail sales or front desk operations demonstrates strong customer service skills combined with retail math proficiency for handling transactions confidently. A background in pediatrics or working with diverse patient populations is a plus for creating a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. Certification in medical assisting or optometric assisting is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn on the job is valued highly.
