Job Description
Overview We are looking for someone positive, motivated, and personable to join our team as an Oral Surgery Assistant. You will support our oral surgeon and other assistants during procedures (including those with general anesthesia), ensure patient comfort and safety, maintain the highest standards of infection control, and support front office staff as needed. It is our genuine goal to make every patient's experience here as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments, supplies, and equipment for oral surgery procedures. Sterilize instruments and turn over treatment rooms between surgeries. Assist the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field. Take X-ray, CT, and 3D scans to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Dental X-ray license a plus! Monitor vital signs, airway, and patient comfort levels before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety. Manage medical documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of Carestream is a plus! Maintain strict infection control protocols. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions during discharge and answer questions related to procedures or recovery. Qualifications Experience in oral surgery. Certification in dental assisting preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Proficiency in chairside assisting. Familiarity with EMR systems for medical records management. We use Carestream Dental. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately. Dental X-ray license preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Bilingual preferred.
