Job Description
Overview Join our vibrant team as an Organic Farmer, Groundskeeper, Gardener, and Landscaper dedicated to cultivating a sustainable and thriving environment. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our organic farm and landscape areas, ensuring healthy growth of plants, crops, and natural habitats. Your hands-on expertise will help foster biodiversity, promote eco-friendly practices, and support animal husbandry efforts. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, apply diverse skills, and contribute to a greener future. Responsibilities Cultivate organic crops and plants using sustainable farming practices, including planting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting. Maintain landscape features through mowing, pruning, mulching, and planting to ensure a vibrant and healthy environment. Operate farm machinery such as tractors, tillers, irrigation systems, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Perform equipment repair and basic welding to keep tools and machinery in optimal condition. Manage animal husbandry duties including feeding, handling, grooming, and caring for livestock such as horses or other farm animals. Oversee irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across fields and garden areas. Conduct regular inspections of the grounds for pests, diseases, or hazards; implement integrated pest management strategies as needed. Assist with greenhouse operations by planting seedlings, monitoring environmental controls, and maintaining plant health. Use hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks such as fencing repairs or landscape enhancements. Work with team members when applicable to ensure safety protocols are followed during heavy equipment operation or maintenance activities. Experience Proven experience in farming or agriculture with a focus on organic practices. Supervising experience preferred to coordinate tasks efficiently within a team setting. Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery repair and maintenance is highly desirable. Hands-on animal husbandry experience with livestock care including handling and feeding animals responsibly. Familiarity with irrigation systems, greenhouse management, horticulture techniques, and landscape maintenance. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts or other power tools safely. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to planting schedules or feed quantities. Knowledge of welding or equipment repair is a plus for maintaining farm infrastructure. Strong understanding of horticulture principles and sustainable farming methods to promote healthy plant growth.
