Job Description

EDU Healthcare is seeking compassionate and student-focused Orientation & Mobility Specialists to support school districts throughout Cook County, Illinois, in the upcoming school year.
Responsibilities:
Conduct mobility assessments to evaluate students' orientation and mobility skills Develop individualized orientation and mobility plans (IOMPs) based on assessment results and student goals Teach orientation skills, including spatial and environmental awareness and use of landmarks Instruct students in mobility techniques, including white cane use, public transportation, and safe street-crossing Document progress, assessments, and adaptations to instructional strategies Prepare reports for parents, teachers, and school administrators Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices Network with other O&M specialists and professionals to share knowledge and resources
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in orientation and mobility, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field Active state-level licensure and/or certification; COMS certification from ACVREP preferred Valid teaching license or certification in physical education Experience working in schools or with children is preferred but not required Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Come join a therapist-owned organization that values your expertise and supports you throughout the school year.
