Position:
(Purpose of the Position): To perform and promote school spirit as the St. Olaf College official mascot at college events.

Customer Service Reliability Creativity Public Relations Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform as Ole the Lion at St. Olaf College and community appearances, remaining in character while wearing the costume. Represents St. Olaf College's mission and core values in a positive and friendly manner through performances at on and off-campus events. Maintains the proper use of Ole the Lion costume as directed. Interacts, in character, with St. Olaf College students, faculty, staff, families, children, alumni, and community members. Develop and implement dance routines, skits, and other activities to entertain and energize event spectators and participants.
Qualifications:
(Education/Experience/Skills) Outgoing and creative personality with a willingness and desire to have fun. Ability to perform in front of audiences. Ability to work scheduled event dates, including evenings, weekends, and during college breaks if necessary. Professional demeanor Independent and self-motivated. Must be between 5'8" - 6'2" in height to fit in costume, fit comfortably in the costume, and support the weight of the costume for extended periods. Ability to lift and move 50 pounds without assistance. Must have the physical ability to perform Ole the Lion actions (i.e. standing, running, kneeling, reaching, jumping, bending, waving hands/arms, etc.). Ability to perform in and out of doors, with exposure to varying temperatures.
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position requires fitting comfortably in the costume, supporting the weight of the costume for extended periods, crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, jumping, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, and lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise and rare exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat to perform the essential functions.
