Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Overhead Crane Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of overhead crane systems, ensuring they meet rigorous safety standards, industry codes, and client specifications. Your expertise will drive the design process from concept through detailed engineering, contributing to cutting-edge solutions that enhance operational efficiency and safety across diverse industrial applications. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive mechanical designs for overhead cranes utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, ensuring compliance with ASME codes & standards. Create detailed schematics, technical drawings, and system layouts that facilitate manufacturing and assembly processes. Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to validate structural integrity and system performance under various load conditions. Perform root cause analysis on design issues, implementing corrective actions to optimize safety, durability, and functionality. Collaborate with project teams to develop project schedules, milestones, and deliverables aligned with client requirements and manufacturing timelines. Integrate programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino systems, LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink models into crane control systems for enhanced automation and system reliability. Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards such as GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), ASME codes & standards, and best practices in mechanical engineering. Support manufacturing by providing technical guidance on CNC machining, drafting, schematics, and system design considerations for overhead crane components. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with a focus on mechanical design principles applicable to heavy lifting equipment. Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks and Creo for detailed drafting and 3D modeling. Experience with FEA tools for structural analysis and simulation of crane components under operational loads. Knowledge of system design integrating PLCs, Arduino microcontrollers, LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink for automation solutions. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining and fabrication techniques relevant to crane construction. Ability to perform project scheduling effectively to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Expertise in root cause analysis methodologies to troubleshoot design or operational issues efficiently.
