Job Description

Overnight Sanitation Worker - Job Description Job Summary The Overnight Sanitation Worker is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, tools, and facility areas to ensure compliance with food safety , GMP , SQF/BRC , and regulatory standards. This role directly supports product quality and safety by performing routine and deep-clean tasks on production lines, processing areas, and non-production spaces. The Sanitation Worker plays a critical role in preventing cross-contamination, allergen risks, and microbial hazards in a dessert manufacturing environment.

8:30pm-5am Essential Duties & Responsibilities Production & Equipment Cleaning Dismantle (as applicable), clean, and sanitize production equipment, tools, conveyors, mixers, depositors, ovens, freezers, and utensils according to SOPs. Perform wet and dry-sanitation processes depending on equipment type and allergen requirements. Remove product buildup, debris, and organic residue to maintain hygienic conditions. Sanitation Processes Sanitize surfaces, equipment using prescribed sanitizer at the prescribed concentration. Complete sanitation during changeovers between product types, allergens, or shifts. Conduct deep cleans during scheduled shutdowns or maintenance periods. Follow validated cleaning procedures for high-risk zones (e.g., cream fillings, chocolate lines). Reassemble equipment correctly (with maintenance as necessary) and verify proper setup for production readiness Facility Cleaning Clean floors, walls, drains, processing rooms, coolers, freezers, and storage areas. Maintain cleanliness in locker rooms, break rooms, and employee common areas. Ensure proper waste disposal and assist in maintaining a sanitary environment across all plant zones. Compliance & Documentation Follow all
GMP , FSMA , HACCP
, and color-coding policies. Complete sanitation logs, chemical records, pre-op checks, and other required documentation accurately and on time. Participate in internal audits, inspections, and corrective actions as needed. Team & Communication Communicate issues with equipment, cleaning supplies, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately. Work collaboratively with QA, Maintenance, and Production teams to ensure sanitation tasks are completed correctly and efficiently.
Qualifications / Minimum
Requirements Previous sanitation, janitorial, or food manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, and safety guidelines. Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and sanitation equipment. Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Strong commitment to food safety and a clean working environment. Bilingual ability is a +++ but not required Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces. Must be able to work in varying temperatures, including hot ovens and cold freezers. Ability to work with and around cleaning chemicals, pressurized water, and equipment requiring PPE. Exposure to allergens such as flour, nuts, dairy, or chocolate depending on product lines. Work Environment Fast-paced food production environment with wet floors, moving equipment, and noise. Frequent exposure to ingredients, powders, cleaning agents, and temperature variations. You must wear required PPE at all times (gloves, smocks, boots, eye protection, etc.).

$19.50 per hour
