Tire Testing and Finishing Technician Job Description This role focuses on the physical handling, pressure testing, and painting of heavy tires in a small shop environment. The technician will operate testing equipment, manage the movement of tires through multiple process stages, and ensure each tire is finished to quality standards while working independently and safely. Responsibilities Roll heavy tires up a ramp and position them correctly for testing. Perform pressure testing of tires in three stages using three different air levels, following established procedures. Monitor and read gauges on the pressure testing machine to ensure proper air levels and test accuracy. Roll tires down the ramp after testing and guide them into the paint station. Use a roller to apply paint to both the outside and inside surfaces of each tire, ensuring even coverage and a consistent finish. Occasionally stack tires, each weighing up to 125 pounds, in designated areas for storage or further processing. Operate a forklift to move tires and materials safely around the shop as needed. Perform general labor tasks related to tire handling, equipment operation, and shop upkeep. Follow safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques when handling heavy tires and equipment. Work independently to manage workflow, maintain productivity, and meet daily production targets. Essential Skills At least 1 year of forklift experience in an industrial or warehouse setting. Ability to lift and maneuver tires weighing up to 125 pounds on occasion. Capability to read and interpret gauges on pressure testing equipment accurately. Experience with general labor in a manufacturing or shop environment. Basic painting skills using rollers to apply coatings to large surfaces. Reliability and self-motivation to work independently with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications Machine operating experience is a plus. Mechanical inclination or familiarity with mechanical systems is beneficial. Comfort working in a small, hands-on shop environment. Attention to detail when performing pressure tests and paint application. Strong focus on safety when lifting heavy items and using equipment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a small shop setting where the individual works largely independently and manages their own workflow. The workday runs on a daytime shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The environment involves regular physical activity, including rolling and stacking tires weighing up to 125 pounds, operating forklifts, and using pressure testing machines and paint rollers. The space is designed for hands-on, industrial work, and employees should be comfortable in a production shop atmosphere with appropriate work attire suited to manual labor and painting tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newville, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
