Packaging Engineer

Summary:

At FCA, the Packaging Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality engineering support to the manufacturing team, ensuring packaging solutions are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with customer requirements. This role encompasses packaging design, creation of build prints and bills of material, evaluation of manufacturing processes, and technical support for assembly builds. The Packaging Engineer plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability in packaging systems that meet customer demand and support overall operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list is not exhaustive and may be expanded to include other duties as management deem necessary. Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective, and reliable packaging solutions that meet customer requirements. Create and maintain accurate bills of material (BOMs) for all items and build prints for both repeatable and longer lead-time items. identify, manage, and execute cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives through redesign and process optimization. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand product requirements, conduct site visits, and collect critical information for packaging design. Identify, source, and recommend unique or specialized procurement items to support packaging solutions. Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety guidelines. Participate in cross-functional teams to drive packaging innovation and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience in industrial packaging design.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Pro-E, or SolidWorks for 3D modeling and build print generation (SolidWorks preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents in English. Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

Strong practical problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex variables in partially standardized situations. Analytical thinking to evaluate processes, identify improvements, and implement effective solutions.
