Job Title:
Paint Prep Laborer Job Description This role focuses on preparing small thermoplastic composite parts for painting in a fast-paced production environment. You will clean, tape, and handle high volumes of precision parts, support painting and powder coating processes, and contribute to consistent quality and on-time production. The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on, repetitive work, takes pride in fine detail, and can work independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities + Prepare parts for painting by wiping them with acetone or isopropyl to ensure clean, contaminant-free surfaces. + Secure parts to trays using tape or other fixtures prior to painting to maintain correct positioning and organization. + Flip and handle parts after painting, following established procedures to support efficient workflow and proper curing. + Sand and deburr parts using files, wire brushes, hand grinders, or power tools to remove imperfections and sharp edges. + Perform sandblasting on parts as required, understanding that this can be physically demanding on hands and shoulders. + Work with small parts and consistently prep approximately 1,500-3,000 parts per shift while maintaining quality and pace. + Inspect parts visually to identify defects, ensure clean surfaces, and verify that quality standards are met before and after painting. + Follow production metrics and quotas, working at a steady, fast pace to meet deadlines and daily output goals. + Use basic computer functions and perform minimal data entry to record counts, production information, or quality checks as needed. + Count parts accurately and perform simple math to track quantities and ensure accurate production and inventory records. + Wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators or masks when working around paints, solvents, and other chemicals. + Maintain a clean and organized work area, following established shop processes and cleanliness standards. + Work on your feet throughout the shift and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds while handling materials and parts. + Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to maintain smooth production flow. + Follow safety procedures and guidelines when using chemicals, sandblasting equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
