Description Basic Function Under moderate supervision, paints surfaces of revenue buses and related parts.

Examples of Duties Paints interior and exterior surfaces of revenue buses and related parts and other vehicles according to specifications using hand tools and power equipment Removes old paint from vehicles using hand tools and chemical agents as appropriate Cleans and sands surfaces to be painted; masks surfaces which are not to be painted Mixes paints and matches paint colors Paints insignia, identifying letters, stripes, and numerals using stencils Applies decals to exterior and interior of vehicles Operates robotic paint equipment and assists with programming Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out Minimum Qualifications Four years' journey-level experience performing painting of heavy vehicle or automotive bodies, frames, and related parts Experience painting buses and related parts desirable Valid California Class C driver's license Essential Knowledge Knowledge Theories, principles, and practices in the painting of bus bodies, frames, and related parts Operations of various hand and power tools and equipment used to paint vehicles Properties of various paints, including polyurethane, acrylic, oil, and water based Power equipment operations and safety Shop mathematics Vehicle operations and safety Abilities Paint revenue bus bodies, related parts, and other vehicles Apply insignia and decals Read, understand, and apply blueprints, diagrams and specifications Safely use and dispose of various paints and hazardous materials Safely operate Metro vehicles Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment Communicate effectively with others Follow verbal and written instructions Lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds Travel to offsite locations within a reasonable timeframe Read, write, speak, and understand English Special Conditions Must provide own tools of the trade, except for compressors Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations (ML) Metro is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, ancestry, national origin, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, age, veteran status, or disability.
