Paralegal

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Paralegal to support a busy legal team in Oakland, California. This is an ongoing contract to fill in for an employee on leave. This is ideal for someone with hands-on civil litigation experience, particularly in personal injury matters, who can help keep cases moving efficiently from pre-trial preparation through key filing and scheduling activities. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with an expectation of on-site presence as needed, especially during active trial preparation periods. You will work closely with a small legal support team and contribute to timely, organized legal support across multiple upcoming trials.

Responsibilities:

+ Coordinate pre-trial activity by organizing timelines, tracking deadlines, and helping attorneys prepare case materials for upcoming hearings and trials. + Arrange logistics for expert witnesses and depositions, including scheduling, document coordination, and communication with involved parties. + Prepare, format, and submit court filings while ensuring documents meet procedural and jurisdictional requirements. + Maintain calendars for litigation matters, monitor important dates, and help keep case activity aligned with court and client schedules. + Assist with discovery-related tasks and provide higher-level case support when matters require additional follow-up or documentation. + Support the exchange, organization, and management of case documents between attorneys, clients, experts, and outside parties. + Help facilitate client and deposition scheduling to ensure smooth coordination across multiple active matters. + Work on-site as needed during critical trial preparation periods and collaborate with the legal team in a hybrid office environment.

Requirements Qualifications:

+ At least 2 years of legal support or paralegal experience in a litigation setting. + Background in plaintiff-side or defense-side personal injury work. + Practical experience assisting with trial preparation in civil litigation matters. + Working knowledge of court filings, e-filing procedures, and legal document formatting. + Ability to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple case priorities with strong attention to detail. + Comfortable handling scheduling related to depositions, experts, clients, and other case participants. + Strong organizational and communication skills in a collaborative office environment. + Paralegal certification is not required for this role.
