(FRLS) is a non-profit law firm that provides free civil legal aid to eligible individuals, families, and vulnerable communities across 13 Florida counties, as well as to farm workers statewide. FRLS.org . Florida Rural Legal Services is seeking to hire someone to join our team to identify and facilitate outreach in the community. The Outreach Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing the most up-to-date education and information on various FRLS legal services as well as facilitating and assisting with know-your-rights and other outreach events attended and conducted by the advocacy staff. The Outreach Coordinator is the main point of contact between the organization and the broader community. The Outreach Coordinator helps the local office staff by identifying and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in the community and coordinating internal and external information sharing. Our ideal candidate is a motivated, passionate individual who shares our values and believes in our mission, has strong interpersonal skills, is a great communicator, and has experience developing and implementing community outreach programs. The Outreach Coordinator is under the supervision of the Regional Managing Attorney. Essential Functions 1. Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, faith-based entities, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities. 2. Prepare an annual plan for outreach activities. 3. Establish new and nurture existing relationships with collaborative partners. 4. Schedule regular outreach opportunities in the community designed to disseminate information regarding our services. 5. Schedule legal clinics in collaboration with advocates and community partners. 6. Prepare accurate records and reports on outreach goals. 7. Contact community organizations serving low-income communities and FRLS's target populations, explaining the mission and services. 8. Meet regularly with outreach project partners to give updates and plan outreach. 9. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required. Requirements 1. High School diploma or GED. 2. Paralegal degree or certification preferred. 3. Knowledge of the legal system, commitment to the mission of FRLS and compassion for the clients. 4. Fluent in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole is preferred. 5. Ability to forge positive relationships with clients, community, and colleagues. 6. Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. 7. Ability to work collaboratively, yet independently. 8. Creativity and ability to maximize the use of existing resources. 9. Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Case Management System. 10. Must be able to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, clients and the public. 11. Must be able to effectively work in high pressure situations which involve deadlines. 12. Ability to travel frequently 13. Three to four years of professional experience conducting and developing community outreach preferred 14. Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to best fulfill the goals of the outreach project. Working conditions This position operates in a professional work environment. Physical requirements 1. This is a largely sedentary role, however, some lifting of office supplies of up to 20 pounds may be required. 2. Must be able to travel throughout Florida, as needed. Reports No supervisory duties. Salary and Benefits The starting salary for this position is $38,500, which is based on a union scale and adjusted upward depending on experience. FRLS offers a very generous benefits package that includes 403(b) with employer-paid contribution; health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) for employees and their dependents; paid leave (up to 5 weeks of PTO, 2 personal days, and 13 holidays). FRLS Paralegals operate in an in-office environment, requiring work in their assigned office 5 days a week. Paralegals are permitted to work up to two days at home once they complete their probationary period.
