12-hour day or night shifts | Scheduled based on operational needs.

Emergency Medical Services Job Summary Performs patient care including initial assessment, procedures, and /or administration or medications for patients in the hospital under the direction and /or supervision of a physician, registered nurse (RN), advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or physician assistant (PA). Essential Functions According to PMC and departmental standards, documents and delivers goal focused, age specific, cultural/belief specific, individualized safe care for all patients. Treats every patient equally with respect and dignity; does not base the quality of care on the patient's race, creed, color or social position. Collaborates with nursing personnel to provide high quality patient care. Demonstrates accountability as an individual and team member in meeting patient/family needs.

Participates in identifying cost effective measures for clinical care.

Reads emergency care specific research studies and literature and, with assistance, participates in applying findings to practice. Maintains safe, clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Reviews all Incident Action Plans within the manual for Emergency and Code situations. Holds fellow staff members responsible to know, understand, and practice their own role in the event of a code or an emergency.

Demonstrates resourcefulness and composure in an emergency. Uses all available resources competently.

Has knowledge of universal precautions and infection control policies; implements, supports and enforces policies with self, patient, medical care team, visitors and fellow staff members.

Prepares patient for next level of care (ie, admission, transfer, and/or dismissal).Promotes good public and intra-hospital relations.

Assures thorough and complete age specific continuum of care for all patients. Provides appropriate information to health care team.

Identifies, addresses and communicates problems and variances from patient goals and participates in finding solutions. Independently resolves patient problems and follows through with the health care team to implement solutions. Communicates/collaborates effectively to meet patient and team goals. Clearly, efficiently and confidently communicates significant information about patient/family care.

Collaborates with peers in home department and hospital-wide. Engages in continuous learning. Attends/participates in department meetings, in-services, and/or seminars. Attends/participates in 100% of mandatory meetings. Completes annual Care Learning courses by the designated due date. Develops and achieves professional goals; contributes to the achievement of clinical practice area and patient care center goals.

Contributes to clinical practice area work life and team building. Paramedic Participates in quality improvement projects and studies through data collection and other duties as assigned. Orients new personnel. Regular attendance at the assigned work location is an essential function of the job.
