By leveraging extensive global network and user-friendly technology platform, De Well offers industry-leading digitalized solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of customers worldwide. They specialize in international freight and fulfillment services to provide integrated cross-border supply chain solutions. De Well is seeking a commercially-driven Parcel Carrier Manager to own and grow our parcel shipping strategy, with a sharp focus on cost performance, revenue impact, and last-mile scalability. This is a senior commercial role position. We need someone who sees carrier contracts as revenue levers, delivery SLAs as customer retention tools, and every rate negotiation as an opportunity to widen margin and strengthen our competitive position. If you have spent time inside FedEx, UPS, or a major 3PL and understand how carriers price, where they flex, and how to build partnerships that scale this is your seat at the table.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the parcel carrier strategy end-to-end balancing cost, coverage, and service quality to drive measurable business outcomes
- Lead all carrier contract negotiations: rate agreements, GRI mitigation, surcharge management (Peak Season, DAS, fuel), and service-level terms with national and regional providers
- Use shipping data to surface cost-saving opportunities that aren't obvious zone optimization, DIM weight analysis, carrier mix shifts and turn findings into commercial decisions
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard regional and last-mile carrier partners that give De Well a competitive edge in speed, coverage, and unit economics
- Build and own carrier KPI frameworks; translate performance gaps into commercial accountability and contract leverage
- Partner cross-functionally with sales, operations, and customer success to ensure carrier capabilities directly support client commitments and growth targets
- Develop scalable last-mile delivery solutions that improve transit times, delivery success rates, and the overall customer experience
- Monitor industry dynamics: surcharge trends, carrier capacity shifts, and emerging last-mile models and bring that intelligence into our strategy Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience in parcel logistics, transportation, or supply chain
- Prior experience working at or closely with FedEx, UPS, or similar parcel carriers strongly preferred
- Proven track record closing competitive carrier agreements and defending rates through GRIs and renewals
- Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated success in securing and protecting favorable carrier terms
- Deep fluency in parcel pricing structures: zones, DIM weight, accessorials, and how carriers build (and conceal) margin
- Experience managing high-volume parcel shipping environments with measurable cost and performance outcomes
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel or data analysis tools able to identify what the data is telling you before it becomes obvious
- High commercial acumen with the credibility and communication skills to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in 3PL, eCommerce, or freight forwarding environments
- Established relationships with regional parcel carriers and last-mile providers
- Familiarity with TMS, WMS, or parcel shipping platforms What Success Looks Like
- Measurable reduction in per-parcel shipping costs through proactive negotiation and carrier mix optimization
- Improved last-mile delivery performance and delivery success rates that protect customer retention and satisfaction
- Strong, strategic carrier partnerships that scale as De Well's volume, geography, and product lines expand
- Market intelligence that keeps De Well ahead of surcharge cycles, capacity constraints, and competitive shifts
