Parking Enforcement Officer Village of Scarsdale - 4.2 Scarsdale, NY Job Details Full-time $54,210 - $72,449 a year 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Record keeping Computer operation English High school diploma or GED Driver's License Productivity software Local ordinances Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description The Village of Scarsdale, NY, a premier New York City suburb located in southern Westchester County, is seeking a full-time Parking Enforcement Officer to support the Police Department in the enforcement of all standing traffic laws, ordinances and parking violations, and issue summonses for such violation. The Village of Scarsdale is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Description of Work (Illustrative Only): Patrols an assigned route of parking meters and restricted parking areas in a motorized vehicle or on foot; Observes parking meter violations and other standing traffic violations, and issues tickets for all such violations; Observes and issues tickets for any obvious parking violations such as unauthorized parking at a bus stop or at a loading zone; Tactfully advises car operators as to the reason for issuance of tickets; Informs the public as to the location of private and public parking facilities and furnishes public information; Observes and reports locations of meters out of order or in need of repair; Inspects meters reported defective; Repairs, replaces, and cleans meters; May control traffic during peak hours. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Illustrative Only): Knowledge of the geography of the municipality and the location of private and public parking facilities; ability to learn the procedures and regulations involved in the enforcement of the parking ordinances and other standing violations; ability to enforce the ordinances and regulations with firmness and tact; ability to keep simple practical records; ability to orally communicate clearly and concisely; ability to understand oral and written directions; mechanical aptitude; ability to use computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.
Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and throughout the course of employment.
Compensation:
$54,210.00 - $72,449.00 commensurate with education and experience.
