Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Part Time Bookkeeper to support financial operations for a construction-focused business in Taunton, Massachusetts. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting activity independently while maintaining accurate records and meeting regular deadlines. The role requires hands-on experience with bookkeeping systems, strong spreadsheet skills, and the ability to oversee core accounting functions with accuracy and consistency.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities, including maintaining accurate financial records and updating the general ledger.
- Process accounts payable transactions, prepare scheduled check runs, and ensure vendor payments are completed on time.
- Handle accounts receivable tasks, track incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.
- Administer payroll activities with attention to timeliness, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to verify balances and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Use QuickBooks Desktop to record transactions, organize financial data, and produce routine reports.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, applying formulas to support reporting and analysis.
- Prepare construction-related billing documentation, including AIA billing, in accordance with project requirements. Requirements
- Proven experience in a full-charge bookkeeping role with responsibility for multiple accounting functions.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop for day-to-day bookkeeping and financial record maintenance.
- Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Experience processing payroll accurately and managing recurring payment cycles.
- Solid Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas for tracking and reporting.
- Familiarity with bookkeeping practices in the construction industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience preparing or supporting AIA billing is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage work independently in a part-time capacity.
