Job Description

About the Position We are a private farm property in Frederick County seeking a reliable, self-directed part-time farm hand to help maintain our land on weekends. The primary focus is operating a skid steer (Case 430) with a brush hog/rotary cutter attachment to maintain two solar farm areas (approximately 14-16 acres combined) on a twice-monthly schedule, along with periodic heavy bush hogging of overgrown pasture and weed areas across the property. Additional light maintenance tasks will come up as needed. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys outdoor, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping a property in good shape. You'll work independently with minimal supervision once trained on our expectations. Primary Responsibilities Operate a Case 430 skid steer with rotary cutter/brush hog attachment to mow solar farm areas (approximately 14-16 acres) on a twice-monthly schedule Perform annual or semi-annual heavy bush hogging of 40-45 acres of pasture and noxious weed areas Maintain safe operating practices around solar panel arrays, including speed management and awareness of debris deflection Perform basic maintenance checks on the skid steer and attachment before and after use (fluid levels, blade condition, hydraulic connections) Report any equipment issues or property concerns to the property owner promptly Secondary / As-Needed Tasks Minor repairs and maintenance on well water lines and outdoor water spigots (replacing fittings, winterizing, addressing leaks) General lawn and grounds upkeep as assigned — may include light trimming, debris cleanup, or fence line work Other miscellaneous property maintenance tasks as they arise Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience operating a skid steer — must be comfortable with standard and attachment operation Ability to work safely and independently on farm equipment with minimal supervision Physically capable of performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions Reliable — consistent weekend availability is essential; this is a routine maintenance role, not occasional Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with rotary cutters, brush hogs, or similar mowing attachments on a skid steer Experience working on or around solar farm installations Basic plumbing knowledge — well lines, outdoor spigots, poly pipe connections Familiarity with common noxious weeds in the Frederick County area and appropriate management timing References from prior farm, landscaping, or equipment operation work Work Environment & Conditions All outdoor work — terrain varies from flat solar farm ground to uneven pasture Weekend-only schedule; hours flexible based on task needs and weather Equipment and fuel provided; candidate must supply their own appropriate work attire and footwear Work is on private property; reliable transportation to the site is required

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
