This vital role involves supporting histological procedures and specimen preparation for skin cancer surgeries, ensuring accurate and timely diagnosis. As a HistoTech, you will work closely with surgeons, pathologists, and laboratory staff to facilitate precise tissue processing, slide preparation, and analysis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to life-saving procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by enabling accurate surgical margins assessment and diagnosis. Duties Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting for microscopic examination in MOHS surgery cases Assist with specimen collection and processing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation for traceability Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and laboratory safety protocols during all procedures Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, stainers, and microscopes with precision Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality slides for intraoperative decision-making Document all procedures accurately in laboratory information systems while maintaining detailed records of specimen handling Support research activities by preparing specimens for additional testing or analysis as needed Experience Prior clinical laboratory experience with histology or pathology laboratories is highly preferred Experience working in a research laboratory setting is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with laboratory techniques and protocols Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology enhances your ability to interpret specimens effectively Hands-on experience with specimen collection and processing techniques such as phlebotomy or tissue biopsy handling is advantageous Familiarity with hospital or outpatient surgical environments helps ensure smooth integration into our MOHS surgery team Proficiency in laboratory procedures including staining, slide preparation, and quality control measures is essential Strong understanding of vital signs monitoring and aseptic techniques supports safe laboratory practices Join us to be part of a dynamic team committed to excellence in skin cancer treatment!
