Part Time Landfill Attendant

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, to perform a variety of duties involved in the operation of the landfill including to record customers, determine and collect charges, and to direct the unloading of solid waste at the landfill . Perform duties at landfill entrance; determine and collect or record charges for commercial users; issue receipts as required for fees taken in; account for fees taken in. Complete necessary forms. Direct trucks and vehicles to proper location to ensure ease of unloading and efficient covering of unloaded materials; direct unloading to segregate normal waste from waste requiring special handling. Maintain a variety of records and logs; prepare a variety of summaries and reports Monitor landfill for fires. Set up portable offices of operation; assist in performing general housekeeping Operate and maintain radio equipment. Perform a variety of general labor duties at the landfill; remove debris and trash fromroadway, adjacent properties, and landfill site; operate light to medium trucks and equipment. Open and lock gates at proper times. May serve as lead worker for new hires/seasonal hires. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen. High School Diploma or GED Some math, clerical and general labor experience is highly desirable. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, use hands to finger, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employees must frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
