Job Description

Hampton Inn & Suites Fort Belvoir is currently seeking an experienced and dependable Part-Time Maintenance Technician to join our team. We are seeking someone who is responsible, trustworthy, and reliable. In addition, we ask that you be able to work independently, while ensuring our hotel maintains the highest standard and in excellent working condition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Respond to and address guest repair requests. Communicate with our Front Desk team to properly resolve maintenance issues with little or no supervision. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment. Maintain a maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as needed. Ensure daily activities and issues are communicated to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and procedures. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in reading basic blueprints and electrical diagrams related to plumbing and HVAC systems. Demonstrate above-average aptitude in engineering operations and a solid aptitude for general mechanics. Demonstrate good proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average proficiency in two or more of the following categories, and basic proficiency in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Demonstrate a solid knowledge of and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required to perform repair and maintenance tasks. Safely perform highly complex repairs to physical property, electrical systems, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters, ensuring that all methods, materials, and practices comply with company standards and local and national codes, with little or no supervision. Diagnose malfunctions and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., replacing pumps and motors), plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including light fixtures, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replace switches and outlets, as well as other items in guest rooms. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of all engineering software programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interface with those programs. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system malfunctions. Demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of a Duty Engineer, including readings and rounds. Change filters in hall-level HVAC units Install and repair small PTAC units Inspect and ensure fire doors are functioning correctly, including verifying locks and latches Review and address any outstanding maintenance requests from the previous day Perform routine inspections and repairs throughout the property to maintain brand standards and guest satisfaction
Position Requirements:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work without direct supervision Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance is preferred Prior hotel or apartment maintenance experience is a plus We ask that you be able to comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. Complete safety training and certifications Properly store flammable materials. Ensure that both your uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional, maintain the privacy of property information, and protect company property. Greet and acknowledge all guests according to company policy, anticipate and attend to guests' service needs, assist guests with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure adherence to expectations and quality standards. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others and support the team in achieving common goals, and listen to and respond appropriately to other employees' concerns. Communicate with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without assistance. Ascend and descend stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above head height and below knee height, including stooping, twisting at the waist, crawling, and bending. Enter and locate work-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
