Director of Client Engagement and Initiatives Position Summary:
The Part-Time Nurse will function as a clinical consultation and care coordinator for clients referred to Mission Kids for advocacy, forensic interview, or medical services. The Nurse will work closely with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Montgomery County Office of Children and Youth, Montgomery County District Attorney's office, and law enforcement agencies within Montgomery County. The Nurse will be licensed as an RN, BSN, NP, or PA with experience in child maltreatment, pediatric, public health, or community health. This Coordinator will provide clinical coordination and case management for chases referred to Mission Kids for advocacy, forensic interview, or medical services. The coordination may involve consultation for investigation and care plan for complex medical cases. As part of this role, the coordinator will work in the Mission Kids CARE Clinic in collaboration with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia child abuse pediatricians to perform evaluations for child maltreatment concerns. Mission Kids coordinates a child-focused, multidisciplinary response to allegations of child abuse. Our team includes local law enforcement, child protective services, county detectives, and prosecutors to ensure a coordinated, trauma-informed response to each case. Clinical Responsibilities (Assist CHOP providers at Mission Kids Child Abuse Referral and Evaluation Clinic) Obtain necessary consent for services Obtain patient vital signs Prepare patient for physical examination and support patient and family throughout the exam Implement or assist in implementing physicians' orders Assist Child Abuse Pediatrician in ano-genital examination for child sexual abuse concerns. This includes learning how to use to colposcope with support from the physician. Upload photo documentation from physical examination into electronic health record. Collect blood, urine, and other specimens as determined by Child Abuse Pediatrics physicians for laboratory examination Create, label, and log laboratory specimens for transport Review, record, and communicate laboratory results to physician as well as to patients and families Communicate follow-up recommendations to patients and families Educate foster, kinship, and caregivers on medical needs, medications, and follow-up care Communicate follow-up recommendations to other medical providers as indicated Maintain accurate documentation in medical records Coordination Responsibilities Coordinate the referral and scheduling of child victims for specialized medical evaluations at various CHOP locations. Review health records for children referred to Mission Kids when requested and needed for services Identify urgent medical needs, gaps in care, and follow-up requirements Translate clinical information into actional care plan for Montgomery County case workers Support Montgomery County case workers in the scheduling of timely medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health appointments Coordinate with medical providers to ensure continuity of care till discharge Provide real-time consultation to MDT team regarding medical care Ensure appropriate information sharing between medical providers and partner MDT agencies Attend Mission Kids' monthly MDT case review as medical representation Administrative Support & Reception Order medical supplies as needed Abstract data into REDCap for patients evaluated at CARE clinic Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming medical reception area Other Duties Perform additional duties as required to support the mission and daily operations of the agency.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong interpersonal and public relations skills; ability to work compassionately with children and families in crisis. Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, trauma-informed setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn agency software systems. Competency in navigating electronic medical record Competency in pediatric phlebotomyEDUCATION & TRAINING
Licensed as an RN, BSN, NP, or PA Prior experience in child sexual abuse and physical abuse evaluation is not required but preferred Provider will be expected to demonstrate competency in conducting the examination after a training period Provider will be expected to be competent in pediatric phlebotomy. General knowledge of the criminal justice and child welfare systems is a plus. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. PA Child Abuse Clearances Required Must successfully pass FBI fingerprinting, Pennsylvania State Police, and ChildLine background clearances. Completion of mandatory education and electronic health record training as determined by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Working Conditions and Schedules Part-time, onsite position averaging 2.5 days per week, including a required Wednesday schedule.
