Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW THIS IS A RECURRING POSITION THAT IS POSTED AS NEEDED.
•Currently looking for Friday coverage only•The Part Time/Per Diem MRI Technologist works in MRI and performs those duties related to patient care in a proficient and professional manner. Consistently performs quality MRI procedures with thorough knowledge of principles. Collaborates with physicians and staff to create an excellent imaging experience for patients.
Role and Responsibilities:
Consistently performs quality MRI procedures with complete and thorough knowledge of MRI principles. Builds collaborative working relationships with co-workers, managers, practice physicians, radiologists and referring physicians. Schedule determined by Lead MRI Tech. Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of our patients and physicians. Performs routine MRI examinations according to the manual and written order. Performs a motion-free exam, utilizing devices and techniques necessary to obtain a quality MRI exam. Operates all MRI equipment safely and according to manufacturer's recommendations. Ensures all MRI safety screening practices are followed. Supports the technical and medical staff of the organization and radiology department in all functions necessary to the completion of radiology functions. Always check the written order of the physician prior to beginning the procedure. Maintains work area with appropriate supplies to perform job. At the beginning of the shift, the supplies area with the items necessary to perform daily tasks and functions. At the end of the shift, returns all supplies to the appropriate area. Always advise your supervisor of any items needed from vendor. Operates the required digital equipment effectively in the production, storage, filming, retrieval, and transmission of images. Performs computer functions accurately and completely. Reports any equipment problems, safety issues, or patient complaints to your supervisor immediately. Submits ideas for improvements or changes needed to improve department operations. Answers the telephone, stating name and department, speaking in clear and moderate voice, answers questions and refers and transfers if needed. Abides by regulations that apply to State and National licenses. Provides current documentation showing continuing medical education, certification, and license as required. Works in a cooperative manner to ensure the completion of all radiology procedures and related tasks. Responds in a positive manner to changes in work schedule. Attends and participates in monthly department meetings as needed Other duties as assigned.
PATIENT CARE
Oversees and monitors the provision of MRI services, ensuring that it occurs in an efficient, cost-effective manner, while being pleasing to the patient and practical for the physicians. Prior to the start of any procedure, carefully explain the procedure to the patient, parent, or legal guardian, using easily understood terms. Utilizes appropriate skills in accurately and descriptively documenting patient's pertinent clinical information, medical history, and other pertinent information. Consults with radiologist or referring physician regarding contraindications to ordered exam. Always uses a calm and understanding approach. Reduces any fears or anxiety the patient may have about the procedure. Assesses age specific groups and needs. When ordered, prepares, and administers contrast media within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Communicates and acts according to age specific and cultural requirements. Always makes the patient comfortable and recognizes the needs of a patient during the procedure. Always provides privacy for the patient. Always keeps the patient informed when additional time is needed to complete an exam or when circumstances require delays in the procedure's start time. Practices and supports sterile technique. Identifies and resolves work problems to ensure quality patient care. Maintains MRI Safety in accordance with safety recommendations outlined by the Accrediting governing body.
FACILITY
Provides a safe environment for all personnel and patients in relationship the MRI system. Maintains equipment to assure conformance with specific operational standards. Adheres to all OSHA and MRI Accreditation standards and guidelines. Objectively evaluating suggestions or constructive feedback and attempting to improve performance or seeking resources/guidance as needed. Qualifications and Education Requirements Education required: High School Diploma Experience required: A minimum of one to two years of MRI experience required Siemens MRI experience (preferred) Professional license or certification requirements: Registered Radiographer- A.R.R.T. Basic cardiac life support (BCLS) certification required or attained within one month of hire.
