Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Relief Associate Veterinarian to provide exceptional veterinary care during maternity leave coverage. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, compassionate Mobile environment where your expertise makes a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners. As a relief veterinarian, you will step into a supportive team, delivering high-quality medical services while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and client communication. This position is perfect for veterinarians looking to contribute their skills on a flexible, part-time basis while gaining valuable experience across diverse cases. Duties Perform comprehensive examinations, diagnostics, and treatments for a variety of small animals, including dogs and cats. Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety and comfort during procedures. Conduct laboratory tests, interpret results, and apply veterinary terminology accurately to diagnose conditions. Administer medications, vaccinations, and perform minor surgical procedures with aseptic technique. Support animal husbandry practices such as grooming, feeding, and maintaining cleanliness of treatment areas. Handle pet care tasks including animal catheterization, IV placement, and monitoring anesthesia during surgeries. Communicate effectively with pet owners about diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care to promote pet health and well-being. Requirements Valid veterinary license in good standing with the ability to practice in Colorado. Veterinary critical care experience is highly desirable to manage urgent cases successfully. Strong animal handling skills with proficiency in restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy to accurately assess patient needs. Experience with laboratory procedures and laboratory equipment used in veterinary diagnostics. Familiarity with equine or larger animal experience is a plus but not required. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the veterinary team.
